The Rogers Building (1911-1912)
Restoration of the tile, approx. 14,000 sq. ft., on the exterior
atrium of this 10 floor heritage building, restricted to replacing
only severely damaged tile.
Many attempts had already been made including chemicals, steam,
pressure washing and grinding, all with no success

After much experimentation we devised a solution that we finally
settled on. Special pads from 3M used in conjunction with high
torque low rpm drills, and for lubrication, an acidic gel with
a super fine silicate ingredient.
Previous chimneys, hot exhaust vents and accidental fires had
re-baked tiles in areas causing discoloration beneath the glaze.
The decision was made to leave them in place as they were not
cracked
